First ICT trade show a success
By Lkhagvasuren Ariunaa in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, March 2005

The first ever exhibition of ICT products and services was held at the Academy of Management on 23 March 2005. It was an initiative of MIDAS/MONITA NGO (http://www.ict.mn/midas). The main purpose of this event was to expose the ICT sector, its products and services to decision makers, who are studying at the academy. The Academy of Management has a staff of about 50 lecturers and over 2,000 students enrolled for various full-time, part-time, distance-education, and evening courses.

Nine ICT companies exhibited their products at the event. The products included accounting and financial management, insurance, banking, and customs' systems. The other items on show included e-office tools, web-page development software, computer magazines and newspapers, simplified computer manuals published in Mongolian.

The trade show enabled students of the academy to establish contacts with the ICT companies. The event also led to the Academy of Management proposing to conduct special course on risk management.

This event is one of a series of exhibitions, organized by MIDAS/MONITA NGO. The previous exhibitions were on "Software and applications developed by Mongolian companies - 2000, 2004", "Hardware exhibition-2004", and "Tourism and ICT".
