Batiri Williams | | Dr
Esther Williams is Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor at the University of the South
Pacific (USP), Fiji. She has served in various capacities including Pro-Vice Chancellor,
University Librarian and Director of Planning and Development at the USP and currently
chairs a number of university committees. She is on the PANAsia ICT Research and
Development Committee and has served on the International Federation of Library
Associations and Institutions subcommittees and a number of international professional
organisations. She is on the Board of the Reserve Bank of Fiji and is a commissioner
for the Fiji Commerce Commission and the Fiji Audio Visual Commission. She was
a member of the Fiji Education Commission in 2000 and project manager of the European
Union’s project development team for the Fiji Rural Education Project in 2003.
Dr Williams obtained her PhD from the University of Queensland, Australia. She
has undertaken recent research in ICT curriculum and education, national political
elections and telecommunications policy. She has published two books and numerous
articles in the areas of information, communication, libraries and elections. |
